Beverly Hyman is President of Beverly Hyman, Ph.D. and Associates, an internationally known organizational development and training firm in business for over 20 years.  With offices in New York City Dr. Hyman and her Associates provide communications consulting, training, executive coaching and research services to international firms and organizations such as General Electric, Morgan Stanley, McGraw-Hill, the United Nations and NYC’s Metropolitan Transit Authority.  Their work takes them all over the United States and to every continent. Dr. Hyman received her Ph.D. from New York University’s Department of Culture and Communication where she learned to interpret communications systems and transactions in the broadest sense. For example, 

 In the late 1970’s as corporations were forced by rapid technological and social change to seriously rethink training and development, Dr. Hyman’s Training the Trainer program became the enduring substantive and philosophical model for training functions nationwide. 

 Through her work with the AFL-CIO her firm led the way to significant changes in the ways many labor unions and their members communicate.

 At the United Nations she has been a key organizational support for culture change in UN management reform and for reform to provide equal employment opportunities within the UN system for women employees.

 Dr. Hyman’s professional and community endeavors include:

 Chairing the Day of the International Woman for the United Nations Secretariat.

 Serving as a featured speaker and facilitator at national and international conferences including: UN Decade Conferences for Women, The National Human Resources Conferences, The AFL-CIO Professional Employees Conferences, The American Arbitration Association Conference, and many industry conferences.

Authoring Training for Productivity and How Successful Women Manage (both Amacom), along with articles in Fortune, Ms., Supervisory Management, Human Resource Focus, and others.

Hosting her own television program on Channel 21, an interview program on social change.

She has held and does hold board leadership or board advisory positions at The New York City Opera, The Jean Cocteau Repertory, The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Literacy Partners, and NYU’s program in Culture and Communication.

Dr. Hyman holds her Ph.D. from New York University’s Department of Culture and Communication and her Masters in Education from Hofstra University.

Much less well known is that she attended Hofstra University in part on a football scholarship! She starred in a Grade B feature length science fiction film, The Guardian, which was not a box office success, but was serialized and aired for a season on cable television in The Netherlands!

Beverly Hyman is a world wide traveler. Having conducted seminars for clients on six continents, she is accustomed to working in diverse cultural situations. Stateside while working her busy schedule she has also found the time to:

• Appear as a consultant to network news and cable television programs.

• Write several books including "Training for Productivity" and "How Successful Women Manage", along with articles and interviews in Fortune, Ms., Supervisory Management, HR Focus, and newspapers in major cities.

• She has been a featured speaker at national and international conferences including: The United Nations Conference to End the Decade for Women, The National Human Resources Conference of the American Management Associations, The AFL-CIO Professional Employees Conferences, The American Arbitration Association Conference and many industry conferences.

Dr. Hyman holds her Ph.D. from New York University in Communication and her M.S. in Education. She says of herself that she loves "the business of business." She sees the energy and experience she brings to every consulting and training assignment as a personal challenge and commitment.

 Garry Mitchell, Ph.D. 

Dr. Garry Mitchell is well known for his popular public seminars in Training Trainers at the American Management Associations and at Dun and Bradstreet.  As an associate of Beverly Hyman, Ph.D. & Associates, he has offered programs in negotiation, interpersonal skills , presentations, sales and marketing for twenty years.

Dr. Mitchell is the author of the bestseller, The Trainer’s Handbook: The AMA Guide to Effective Training now in its Third Edition and The Heart of the Sale: Making the Customer’s Need to Buy the Key to Successful Selling  which has been selected as the basic sales training reference for China’s entrance into the free market economy. He has also written four self-study audio cassette training textbooks: How to Market by Telephone, How to Interview Effectively, Total Time Management and How to Motivate for Superior Performance. He is listed in Who’s Who in The East, and Who’s Who Among US Executives. “Business Week” magazine reviewed him as being “one of America’s leading business educators.” 

 Dr. Mitchell was a tenured professor of communications at the State University of New York. He received his Doctorate from New York University; his Master’s degree from the City University of New York; and his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta Canada.  A native Canadian, Dr. Mitchell offers training and consulting on every continent, but with a specific Asian focus.  He has worked with several Asian governments to improve management and training effectiveness among professional administrators.

Irv Rose 

Irv Rose has more than thirty-five years experience working with people as a management consultant, professor and teacher. What distinguishes Irv's training from almost anyone else is his unique enthusiasm, humor and his ability to break down resistance and motivate trainees to change their behavior. A typical comment from one of Irv’s trainees is, “Not only have I learned invaluable methods for enhancing my job skills, you gave me confidence in the skills I already possessed. I am not alone in walking away from this seminar feeling pumped, excited and eager to use what you have shown us.”

 Thor Mann 

Thor Mann has ten years of experience increasing the capacity of individuals, groups, and organizations to identify and confront the obstacles that stand between them and their desired success. His commitment to helping clients continually expand their definition of success has manifested itself in diverse ways ranging from guiding wilderness expeditions in northern Canada to coaching rising stars at Fortune 50 financial services firms.

 His more “civilized” work experience includes:

  • Delivering training exercises in systems thinking and organizational awareness to senior management in financial services.
  • Creating and instituting a unique program evaluation framework for the Center for Management Development, an international executive training academy,
  • Designing the strategic plan and the pilot implementation project for an innovative non-profit educational organization,
  • Coaching executives in the human side of management in both the private and the non-profit sectors,
  • Assessing the management systems of an international development consulting firm in order to increase knowledge sharing, strengthen accountability, and improve their market intelligence capability,
  • Surveying UN headquarters and country offices for a global report of learning, training, and knowledge management.

 Thor Mann will receive his doctorate in Organizational Psychology from Rutgers University in 2004. He holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Psychology from Rutgers and a Bachelor of Arts from Reed College.
